Bank transfer betting sites: ordinary transfers and Pay by Bank compared
For customers in Great Britain, 18 of the 24 bookmakers we checked list an ordinary bank transfer (often called BACS, Bank Wire or Fast Bank Transfer) and 17 list a named Pay by Bank or open banking route. Ordinary bank transfer withdrawals are usually stated in working days, and several bookmakers use them as the fallback when another method cannot be paid. Some say Pay by Bank withdrawals should arrive immediately once the first one has gone through. All of these are operator-stated times, not guaranteed receipt times.
How this page is funded: BookiePayout does not currently earn commission from any bookmaker on this page. If that changes, paid links will be labelled and will not change what we say, the order or which bookmakers are included. Affiliate disclosure.
How to read this comparison
The table puts two kinds of bank payment side by side for every bookmaker we cover. An ordinary bank transfer is a payment to or from your bank account using account details, labelled Bank Transfer, BACS, Bank Wire or Fast Bank Transfer. A Pay by Bank route is an open banking payment you approve in your banking app, sometimes called Instant Bank Transfer. Where a bookmaker lists both, it gets two rows. Trustly is a separate provider with its own Trustly comparison.
Times are shown by stage: operator processing is the bookmaker’s own review, payment transfer is the bank’s part, and a single stated time is one figure whose stage the operator does not separate. Each figure is what the operator says, with the date we checked it. We did not make test withdrawals.

Order: A to Z by default. Commercial relationships never affect order or inclusion.
Conditions and notes. Our summary of what each operator says alongside the figures above; follow the numbered sources for the exact wording.
10bet: Bank Transfer (Online bank transfer)
- Used when the deposit method does not support withdrawals; paid to a bank account in the customer's name.
- Not listed as a deposit method.
- The bank-transfer withdrawal panel heading says 'Process time: 1-2 days' and 'Min: £25', while its own text, the table and the FAQ say 1-3 days, and the table and FAQ give a £5 minimum.
- Help centre says bank transfers 'up to 3 business days'.
10bet: Pay by Bank / TrueLayer Bank Transfer (Online bank transfer)
- Withdrawals via TrueLayer only to the same bank account used to fund the account.
- Page says transfers 'may take from a few hours to 1-2 days depending on your bank clearance procedures'.
bet365: Bank Transfer
- The Bank Transfer row also says: 'We aim to process your withdrawal within 2 hours of your request.'
- A Confirmation of Payee check is run; the account must be a personal account in the customer's name, not a business account.
- Withdrawals to a bank account outside the UK or in a currency other than GBP or EUR may take longer.
- Bank transfer is the fallback route when bet365 cannot pay back to the deposit method, or when the deposit method is no longer accepted (error NPM01).
- Statement descriptor: the methods page lists Hillside or Worldpay; the 'Where is my withdrawal?' page lists Earthport, Hillside, Trustly or Worldpay.
- Deposits by manual bank transfer: 'Process Time 2-10 Banking Days', and the bet365 username must be used as the payment reference.
bet365: Pay by Bank
- Funds deposited via Pay by Bank are paid back to the bank account used for the deposit.
- The underlying Pay by Bank provider is not named on the page.
Betfair: Bank Transfer (standard)
- Customers whose deposit method does not accept withdrawals (e.g. Paysafecard) can withdraw by bank transfer from the 'Other Methods' tab.
- Bank transfer withdrawals that have not yet been processed may be cancellable by contacting Betfair.
- The image-only withdrawal table on the same help page shows different figures (see researcher_notes).
Betfair: Pay by Bank (Open Banking via TrueLayer; also called IBT)
- First-time Pay by Bank withdrawals: Betfair asks customers to allow at least 90 minutes; after the first time, withdrawals should be instant. If funds have not arrived after 90 minutes, wait 24 hours before contacting Betfair.
- Pay by Bank withdrawal is only available if the customer has previously deposited with Pay by Bank.
- UK customers must use GBP as account currency and an eligible UK GBP bank account; limits depend on the bank.
- Up to three bank associations per account.
Betfred: BACS
- The help-centre table row (Bacs logo) reads 'Usually within 3 days'; the prose under it says 'usually three working days'. The Insights article says 'BACS - usually within three days'.
- BACS is not among the deposit logos in the deposits FAQ; the Insights article lists BACS among methods for 'depositing and withdrawing', so deposit support is recorded as unconfirmed.
Betfred: Open Banking / Instant Bank Payment
- Help-centre table shows an 'Instant Banking' logo; the Insights article labels the row 'Instant Bank Payment - Usually within six hours'. The deposits FAQ calls it Open Banking. The underlying provider is not named.
- Open Banking deposits are supported from most UK banks; if a bank is not listed another method is needed.
BetMGM UK: Bank Transfer
- The 1-3 business day figure is BetMGM's general withdrawal statement, not specific to bank transfer.
- Terms: withdrawal by wire transfer only to a UK bank account in the customer's name; DBT (Direct Bank Transfer) only to a non-UK bank account in the customer's name.
- Whether 'Bank Transfer' deposits are an open-banking (pay-by-bank) route is not stated.
- Table amounts have no currency symbol; GBP assumed (GB-only site).
BetUK: Bank Transfer
- Withdrawals by wire transfer go only to a UK bank account in the customer's name; DBT (Direct Bank Transfer) is for non-UK bank accounts in the customer's name.
- The page does not say whether 'Bank Transfer' is a manual transfer or a pay-by-bank (open banking) route.
- The deposit maximum is printed as '20,00' (ambiguous), so it is not recorded.
BetVictor: Bank Transfer (UK Domestic BACS / Bankout)
- Bank transfer withdrawals requested on Friday, Saturday or Sunday are processed on Monday.
- UK customers with a UK bank account should use BACS; International Wire Transfer (2–5 working days, bank charges may apply) is for customers without a UK bank account.
- Also used as the fallback route when a card or other provider cannot process a withdrawal (e.g. expired card).
- The UK withdrawal table shows '1-3 working days' under 'Processing Time'; the note and the Bankout article describe the same 1–3 working days as arrival time after release.
Betway: Bank Transfer
- Not in the UK 'Ways to Deposit' list. Bank transfer appears only in a worked example ('You select Bank Transfer as your withdrawal option') and in an IBAN/SWIFT explainer filed under Withdrawal Queries, so UK availability is not confirmed.
- Betway says it will not process to accounts with account numbers exceeding 10 digits.
Betway: Truelayer – Instant Bank Payment / Pay by Bank
- Described for deposits only (Betway says the deposit transaction is instant); withdrawal support not stated.
BoyleSports: Bank Transfer
- The 2-5 working days figure is the help centre's general statement for 'Standard Withdrawals' reaching a bank; it is not labelled as bank-transfer-specific.
- Bank transfer is the fallback for non-refundable deposit methods (e.g. Paysafe) and when a card withdrawal is not possible.
- Deposits by bank transfer may take up to five business days to reach BoyleSports (T&Cs).
Coral: Fast Bank Transfer
- Only bank accounts registered in the same country as the Coral account can be used.
- The Fast Bank Transfer FAQ says deposits are not offered by this method; a separate Payments FAQ describes depositing by bank transfer via Deposits > Bank transfer (see researcher notes).
- Under the T&Cs, bank transfers to international accounts attract bank charges paid by the customer.
Coral: Pay by Bank
- The help-centre URL slug is 'truelayer'; the page itself names only 'Pay by Bank'.
- The Pay by Bank FAQ gives a 5,000 GBP maximum deposit, which conflicts with the £2,000 single-deposit cap for UK customers.
- Up to 3 bank accounts can be used with Pay by Bank; payments are in the account currency (GBP or EUR).
- No withdrawal time or withdrawal limits are published for Pay by Bank.
Kwiff: Pay By Bank
- The only payout wording is 'unlock instant payouts' (promotional); Kwiff does not otherwise explain Pay By Bank withdrawal routing or timing, and its general FAQ says most withdrawals complete in under 30 minutes. Treat 'instant' as the operator's wording, not a measured time.
- Pay by Bank provider not named. Wise Pay by Bank may not work for gambling payments.
Ladbrokes: Fast Bank Transfer
- Withdrawal only: Ladbrokes does not offer deposits by Fast Bank Transfer (a separate older FAQ describes depositing by bank transfer to account details shown in the cashier).
- Only bank accounts registered in the same country as the Ladbrokes account can be used.
- Withdrawals by bank transfer to international accounts attract bank charges that are met by the customer.
Ladbrokes: Pay by Bank
- The help page URL is /payment-methods/truelayer; the provider is not named in the text.
- The Pay by Bank FAQ gives a maximum deposit of 5 000 GBP; the UK deposit-methods page caps any single UK deposit at £2,000 on all methods.
- Up to 3 bank accounts can be used with Pay by Bank at any time. No Pay by Bank withdrawal time or limits are published.
LiveScore Bet: Pay by Bank (Open Banking / Bank Transfer)
- Withdrawal tables label this route 'Bank Transfer'; the help centre does not say whether withdrawals use open banking or an ordinary bank transfer
- The withdrawal table gives 'Transfer Time' as '2-3 Working Days'
- Closed-loop / Net Deposit rules: withdrawals go first to the method(s) with positive net deposits over the last six months
Matchbook: Bank Wire
- Bank wire withdrawals 'may be subject to fees'; no amount published. Customers who use bank wire as their main funding method may be eligible for a refund of bank wire withdrawal fees.
- Only to an account in the Matchbook account holder's name; one bank wire per client per day.
- The FAQ heading mentions bank wire deposits, but no deposit instructions are given, so deposit support is left unconfirmed.
- Processing on weekdays only, excluding public holidays.
Midnite: Pay By Bank
- Web browser only (iOS and Android apps 'coming soon')
- Bank account must be in the customer's own name and match the Midnite account details; withdrawals return to the same bank account
- A first deposit from a new bank account triggers an ownership verification check
Paddy Power: Bank Transfer (standard)
- The Payment Methods FAQ gives a different UK timing: GBP bank transfer withdrawals requested before 10.30am reach the bank the same day, otherwise the next day.
- Before the first bank transfer withdrawal, a bank statement and photo ID must be provided; the withdrawal is not processed until the documents are received.
- Each standard transfer has a daily limit; going over it can lead to rejection and a fee.
- Bank transfer deposits must use the account username as the reference; they are usually credited within 2-3 working days but can take up to 5.
Paddy Power: Pay by Bank (Open Banking via TrueLayer)
- First-time Pay by Bank withdrawals: Paddy Power asks customers to allow at least 90 minutes; after the first time, withdrawals should be instant. If funds have not arrived after 90 minutes, wait 24 hours before contacting Paddy Power.
- UK customers must use GBP as account currency and an eligible UK GBP bank account; limits depend on the bank.
- Up to three bank associations per account.
QuinnBet: Open Banking ("OpenBanking")
- Provider not named. No page fetched says whether withdrawals can be made by Open Banking or bank transfer.
Sky Bet: Pay by Bank
- Allow at least 90 minutes for the first Pay by Bank withdrawal; after that, withdrawals 'should be instant'.
- In rare cases payments are delayed; contact Sky Bet if funds have not arrived after 24 hours.
- UK customers must use GBP and have an eligible UK GBP bank account.
- Deposit and withdrawal limits depend on the customer's bank; Sky Bet publishes no fixed maximum.
- Powered by TrueLayer (Open Banking). Up to three bank associations per account.
- Sky Bet suggests Pay by Bank for customers whose card or payment method does not accept withdrawals.
Smarkets: Bank Transfer
- Only processed when all other withdrawal options have been exhausted; requires a bank statement showing name and account details, a verified Smarkets account (photo ID and address) and matching currency.
- Deposit status conflicts: the 2026 hub marks bank transfer 'N/A (Withdrawal Only)', but T&Cs 5.1 and older deposit articles list bank transfer deposits (3-5 business days).
- Minimum withdrawal conflicts: £10 (hub) vs £20 (Bank Transfer article).
- The Bank Transfer article words the 5-10 business days as 'processed within'; the hub says 'received ... within'.
Smarkets: Open Bank Transfer (also called Instant Bank Transfer; TrueLayer)
- Older help articles still say open banking / Instant Bank Transfer withdrawals 'should be received within 12 hours' (2024) and list '12 hours' (2021); the 2026 hub says 6 Hours processing then instant receipt.
- Instant Bank Transfer article: after the first deposit from a new bank account the method cannot be used for withdrawals for up to 24 hours (all banks except Revolut). The paragraph follows the Ireland section, so it is unclear whether it also applies to UK users.
- The amount that can be deposited varies by bank; some banks impose lower limits (Instant Bank Transfer article).
- T&Cs 5.21 name TrueLayer as the open banking provider.
Spreadex: Bank Transfer / Direct Credit Bank Transfer
- Deposits: 'Bank Transfers are credited within 2 working days'; the customer's Spreadex account number must be quoted as the reference.
- Withdrawals: bank details must first be registered by email, live chat or phone.
- International transfers and transfers in currencies other than sterling incur additional charges (amount not published).
- A same-day CHAPS option at £25 is recorded separately.
Spreadex: Pay by Bank
- A Pay by Bank deposit must be made before withdrawing by Pay by Bank.
- Spreadex calls it 'the fastest way to receive funds' and describes 'an instant bank transfer to or from your Spreadex account', but gives no withdrawal processing or arrival time, so no numeric window is recorded.
talkSPORT BET: Bank Transfer (UK Domestic BACS / Bankout)
- Two official pages frame the 1–3 working days differently: the Withdrawal methods note puts it after up to 24 hours of processing (approval + transit), while the Withdrawing Funds Policy counts it from the request (end-to-end). Both are recorded; do not add them together without checking.
- Withdrawals requested Friday to Sunday are processed on Monday.
- Bank transfer is not listed as a UK deposit method (UK deposit table lists debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay only).
- Used as the fallback route when a card or other provider cannot process a withdrawal (e.g. expired card).
Unibet: Bank Transfer
- Bank account must be registered in the customer's name
- Deposit page states 'Minimum - Maximum amount : None' and deposits may take up to 3 working days excluding weekends and public holidays
Virgin Bet: Pay by Bank (Open Banking / Bank Transfer)
- Withdrawal tables label this route 'Bank Transfer'; the help centre does not say whether withdrawals use open banking or an ordinary bank transfer
- The withdrawal table gives 'Transfer Time' as '2-3 Working Days'
- Closed-loop / Net Deposit rules: withdrawals go first to the method(s) with positive net deposits over the last six months
William Hill: Bank Transfer
- Bank Transfer deposits were discontinued on 30 March 2022.
- Timescales by transfer type: Standard Bank Transfer 3-5 working days; Urgent/Swift Bank Transfer 1 to 3 working days; CHAPS (UK only) 1 working day.
- Customers are asked to allow up to 10 working days before contacting Customer Service if funds have not arrived.
- The same article also says that, once the request can no longer be reversed, funds 'will be processed back to you within 1 to 10 working days'.
- Proof of bank account (statement issued in the last three months for UK transfers) and valid ID are required for all Bank Transfer withdrawal requests.
- Maximum conflicts with the PaySafeCard table, which gives £99,000 (by Bank Transfer).
William Hill: Pay By Bank
- Available only for the UK and Ireland; William Hill says it works with TrueLayer for Pay By Bank.
- The help pages describe how to deposit with Pay By Bank but not how withdrawals are sent; no fee statement for this method.
Ordinary bank transfers and Pay by Bank: the difference
Most one-off UK bank transfers travel over the Faster Payment System, which works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, subject to what each bank offers.88 Pay.UK says the money is usually available almost immediately, sometimes taking up to two hours, and that some payments take longer, especially outside normal working hours.89 Bacs Direct Credit, the batch system organisations use to pay many people at once, runs on a three-day cycle: files go in on day 1 and reach recipients’ accounts on day 3.90
Pay by Bank is an open banking payment. Instead of typing card details, you approve the payment in your bank’s app or online banking, a regulated payment initiation provider connects the merchant to your bank, and the money moves over Faster Payments.91 You should never be asked for your bank login, PIN or password by anyone other than your own bank.92 Betfair, Paddy Power, Sky Bet and William Hill say they work with TrueLayer, as do Smarkets’ terms.958626887
The official open banking pages we used describe paying a merchant. None describes how a merchant pays you back, so how a Pay by Bank withdrawal travels is something each bookmaker has to state. Pay by Bank also depends on your bank: Betfred says that if your bank is not listed you need another method, and Kwiff warns of possible problems depositing through Wise Pay by Bank.1439
Why bank transfer withdrawals can take working days
A bank withdrawal has to clear the bookmaker’s review before any bank moves it, and that review often runs on working days. Coral and Ladbrokes say internal review takes approximately up to 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and that their Fast Bank Transfer then takes 2–4 business days.33344041 BetVictor processes bank transfers requested on Friday, Saturday or Sunday on Monday.20 Matchbook processes one bank wire per client per day, Monday to Friday, then says receipt usually takes 3–5 business days.50
The payment route matters next, and few bookmakers say which one they use. Betfred labels its bank withdrawal BACS and says it usually takes three working days.12 BetVictor and talkSPORT BET describe “UK Domestic BACS” arriving within 1–3 working days.2175 Under payment law, an electronic payment only has to reach the receiving bank by the end of the business day after the paying bank receives the order, and since 30 October 2024 a paying bank with reasonable grounds to suspect fraud may delay a payment until the end of the fourth business day.93 A receiving bank can also be unable to post a payment straight away.88
Names are no guide to speed. Coral’s and Ladbrokes’ “Fast Bank Transfer” is stated at 2–4 business days after approval. Paddy Power gives two different answers: standard bank transfers take 1–5 days on one help page,56 while its payment FAQ says UK GBP bank transfer withdrawals requested before 10.30am arrive the same day.57 The longest stated figures belong to Smarkets, at 5–10 business days and only once all other withdrawal options are exhausted,6566 and William Hill, which states 3–5 working days but asks you to allow up to 10 working days before contacting it.85
To count a stated period across weekends and bank holidays, use the working-day calculator or read withdrawals at weekends and on bank holidays.
Pay by Bank withdrawals: the conditions behind “instant”
Betfair, Paddy Power and Sky Bet ask you to allow at least 90 minutes for a first Pay by Bank withdrawal, say later ones should be instant, and allow up to three linked bank accounts.95862 Smarkets states 6 hours of processing and then instant receipt, although an older Smarkets article still says within 12 hours.6570
The money usually has to go back where it came from. Betfair and Spreadex require an earlier Pay by Bank deposit,1172 while bet365, 10bet and Midnite pay back to the bank account used to deposit.1353 Sky Bet is the exception that points the other way: it suggests Pay by Bank for customers whose card or payment method does not accept withdrawals.63
Several listings leave the withdrawal side unclear. Betway describes its TrueLayer route for deposits only, and QuinnBet lists Open Banking as a deposit method without withdrawal details.2660 LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet list Pay by Bank, but their withdrawal tables show “Bank Transfer” with 2–3 working days of transfer time.46488183 Coral and Ladbrokes confirm Pay by Bank withdrawals but publish no time for them.3744
Confirmation of Payee and name matching
Confirmation of Payee is a name check for UK payments: when a new payment is set up, the paying bank checks the name given against the sort code and account number. The result is a match, a close match, no match, or unavailable. For a joint account, any one of the registered names is enough.94 Pay.UK says the check does not guarantee that fraud will be detected.94
bet365 is the only bookmaker in our research that says it runs a Confirmation of Payee check on bank withdrawals, to confirm the details match a personal account in your name.3 Others set their own name rules. BetMGM UK and BetUK pay bank transfer withdrawals only to a UK bank account in your name.1719 Midnite checks ownership the first time you deposit from a new bank account.55 Paddy Power asks for a bank statement and photo ID before your first bank transfer withdrawal, and William Hill asks for proof of the bank account and ID on every bank transfer withdrawal.5785 Provide documents only through the bookmaker’s own account pages or support channels; verification and withdrawals explains these checks.
We found no official rule requiring every bookmaker payout to pass a name check. Where a bookmaker states one, a mismatch is a common reason for a declined withdrawal.
Related questions
Can I deposit by ordinary bank transfer?
At fewer bookmakers than you might expect. William Hill stopped bank transfer deposits on 30 March 2022, and Coral and Ladbrokes say they do not take deposits by Fast Bank Transfer.334085 Where manual deposits are accepted, the bookmaker’s reference matters: bet365 asks for your username as the reference and states 2–10 banking days, and Paddy Power also asks for your username.657
Do bookmakers charge for bank transfers?
Most state no fee of their own, with exceptions. Matchbook sets a £500 minimum for bank transfer withdrawals and says they may be subject to fees.50 Spreadex charges £25 for same-day CHAPS, and Betfair says that going over the daily limit on how much you can send by standard transfer could mean rejection and a fee.772 Your own bank may also charge. See withdrawal limits and fees.
Why was my withdrawal sent by bank transfer when I chose another method?
Bank transfer is the usual fallback when the deposit method cannot be paid. bet365 uses it when it cannot pay back to the deposit method or that method is no longer accepted, and William Hill uses it when a method is non-withdrawable.959697 Betfair points customers whose method does not accept withdrawals to bank transfer.8
