Do betting withdrawals go through at weekends and on bank holidays?
Bookmakers licensed in Great Britain set their own withdrawal processing days, and many state payout times in working or banking days, which do not count weekends or bank holidays. Some fast card payouts and bank payments can still arrive at weekends, but only where the operator and your bank support it. UK bank holidays also differ between England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, so count forward in the operator’s stated unit using your own nation’s calendar.
Working days, weekends and withdrawal times
A bookmaker withdrawal has two stages. First the bookmaker reviews and releases the payment; then a bank, card scheme or e-wallet delivers it. Either stage can pause at a weekend, and the unit the operator uses tells you which days it counts.
Operators do not all use the same unit. bet365 says it aims to process withdrawals within four hours of the request, occasionally up to 24 hours, and that some banks can take up to 5 banking days to credit a bank transfer.6 Betfair, Paddy Power and Sky Bet give card timescales in working days and remind customers that bank holidays are not working days.102729 A period stated in working days therefore stretches over a weekend, and further over a bank holiday.
Payment law counts business days too. Under the Payment Services Regulations 2017, a business day is any day the relevant payment provider is open for business as required to execute a payment.44 Once a payer’s provider receives a payment order, the money must reach the payee’s provider by the end of the following business day.45 Neither rule sets how long a bookmaker may take to review a withdrawal, though the Gambling Commission says you can withdraw your money at any time without unreasonable delay.46
Count it out. The working-day calculator adds a stated number of working days to your request date using the bank holiday calendar for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland. Its result is an estimate, not a promised payout date.
Bank holidays are not the same across the UK
GOV.UK publishes separate bank holiday lists for England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, and the dates differ.47 If a bank holiday falls on a weekend, a substitute weekday, normally the following Monday, becomes a bank holiday.47 The 2026 lists show how far apart they can be, including a one-off World Cup bank holiday in Scotland.4748
| Date | Bank holiday | GOV.UK list |
|---|---|---|
| Friday 2 January | 2nd January | Scotland |
| Tuesday 17 March | St Patrick’s Day | Northern Ireland |
| Monday 15 June | World Cup bank holiday (one-off) | Scotland |
| Monday 13 July | Battle of the Boyne (Orangemen’s Day), substitute day | Northern Ireland |
| Monday 3 August | Summer bank holiday | Scotland |
| Monday 31 August | Summer bank holiday | England and Wales; Northern Ireland |
| Monday 30 November | St Andrew’s Day | Scotland |
Scotland’s 2026 list also has no Easter Monday: it goes from Good Friday on 3 April to the early May bank holiday.47 The rest of 2026 is the same in all three lists: Friday 25 December, and Monday 28 December as the substitute day for Boxing Day.47 In 2027 Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall at the weekend, so Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December 2027 are substitute bank holidays.47
The calendar that matters may not be the one where you live, because business days depend on when the relevant payment provider is open.44 We have found no official source saying which nation’s calendar a bookmaker or bank applies, so if a Scottish or Northern Irish holiday could matter, ask.
What bookmakers say about processing days
The table shows what each bookmaker we cover says about processing days, weekends, bank holidays and cut-off times, with its source and the date we checked it.
| Bookmaker | What the operator says | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| 10bet | 10bet says delays can occur because of weekends or public holidays. Its contact page says withdrawals are usually processed within a few minutes but can take up to 48 hours in some cases; its terms describe the published timeframes as business-day estimates. No cut-off time is published.1234 | |
| bet365 | bet365 aims to process withdrawals within four hours, but says this can take up to 24 hours at times of high business levels or during checks. Payment-provider times are given in banking days (up to 2 for cards and Apple Pay, up to 5 for bank transfers). No weekend, bank-holiday or cut-off rules were found.56 | |
| Betdaq | Bank transfer withdrawals are issued the next business day. During the closure, Betdaq aims to process withdrawals within one working day, then funds may take 3 to 5 working days to reach the bank depending on the payment provider. Customer Services is email-only, open Monday to Sunday 9am to 6pm, and aims to reply within 48 hours.789 | |
| Betfair | Card timescales are in working days, and Betfair says bank holidays are not working days. Multiple withdrawals may arrive out of order, and Betfair asks customers to allow 5 working days before getting in touch. A tracing (ARN) number is only available after 5 working days.10 | |
| Betfred | Not published in the pages we checked | |
| BetMGM UK | Not published in the pages we checked | |
| BetUK | BetUK gives one general timescale, not per method: once a withdrawal is approved, funds typically arrive within 1-3 business days. It says times vary with the payment method and with verification. No weekend, bank-holiday or cut-off rules are stated.11 | |
| BetVictor | For UK banks, bank transfer withdrawals requested on Friday, Saturday or Sunday are processed on Monday, once banks are open. No cut-off time is published. Verification reviews may take longer over weekends and public holidays.1213 | |
| Betway | Betway's terms say withdrawals are processed in up to 24 hours, though this may vary at weekends. No bank-holiday rule or cut-off time is published for the UK, and the UK help centre gives no clearance times after payment.1415 | |
| BoyleSports | Not published in the pages we checked | |
| Coral | Coral says its internal review of withdrawals takes approximately up to 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and that debit card withdrawals are processed Monday to Sunday. Visa Fast Funds payouts are processed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends. Method timeframes, shown in the logged-in cashier, range from instant to five banking days and are in addition to Coral's internal processing time. No bank-holiday rules or cut-off times are published.161718 | |
| Kwiff | Not published in the pages we checked | |
| Ladbrokes | The internal review of withdrawals takes approximately up to 24 hours, Monday to Friday; withdrawals to debit cards are processed Monday to Sunday, and Visa Fast Funds payouts are processed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Ladbrokes says withdrawal times range from instant to five banking days depending on the method, that these timeframes are in addition to its internal processing time, and that the exact timeframe is shown in the cashier for each method.192021 | |
| LiveScore Bet | Transfer estimates may vary at weekends and on bank holidays, and the help centre asks customers to allow extra time over bank holidays because banks only process payments on working days. If funds have not arrived after 5 full business days, customers are asked to contact Support with transaction details and a bank statement.222324 | |
| Matchbook | The only processing schedule published is for bank wires: processed within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, with one bank wire per client per day. Only cleared funds can be withdrawn; funds tied to open positions are not cleared. Withdrawals that cannot be requested on the website can be requested by email to accounts@matchbook.com.2526 | |
| Midnite | Not published in the pages we checked | |
| Paddy Power | Card timescales are in working days, and Paddy Power says bank holidays are not working days. UK GBP bank transfer withdrawals have a 10.30am cut-off for same-day arrival according to the Payment Methods FAQ. Customers are asked to allow 5 working days before getting in touch, and an ARN trace number is only available after 5 working days.2728 | |
| QuinnBet | Not published in the pages we checked | |
| Sky Bet | Card timescales are in working days, and Sky Bet says bank holidays are not working days. The terms say withdrawals usually leave Sky Bet within 2 hours on the same working day they are requested. Sky Bet asks customers to allow 5 working days for all withdrawals to arrive before getting in touch.2930 | |
| Smarkets | The UK hub gives a 6 hour processing time for most methods, while the terms say Smarkets will attempt to process withdrawal requests within five working days. Older articles say a fourth or later e-wallet withdrawal in a 7-day period takes 24 hours to process. No statement on weekend or bank holiday processing or daily cut-off times was found.313233 | |
| Spreadex | Bank transfers are stated in working days (deposits credited, and withdrawals expected, within 2 working days). Same-day CHAPS has cut-offs of 10:00 for amounts over £50,000 and 13:00 for smaller amounts. Fast card payouts are counted from approval. No statement on weekend or bank-holiday withdrawal processing was found.34 | |
| talkSPORT BET | The UK Withdrawal methods note says withdrawals requested on Friday, Saturday or Sunday are processed on Monday, once banks are open; the Bankout article states the same rule for UK bank transfers. No cut-off time is published.3536 | |
| Unibet | Withdrawal times are given in banking, working or business days. The only explicit weekend/public-holiday statement found concerns bank-transfer deposits (up to 3 working days, excluding weekends and public holidays); no withdrawal-specific weekend rule was found.3738 | |
| Virgin Bet | Transfer estimates may vary at weekends and on bank holidays, and the help centre asks customers to allow extra time over bank holidays because banks only process payments on working days. If funds have not arrived after 5 full business days, customers are asked to contact Support with transaction details and a bank statement.394041 | |
| William Hill | Visa Direct card payouts are processed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and William Hill says funds should arrive within four hours even at weekends and on public holidays if the bank supports the service. Other timescales are given in working days (cards 1 to 3, e-wallets and PayPal 1, Bank Transfer 3-5). An ARN to trace a missing card payment can be requested after one full day (weekends included) for Visa Direct, or five working days for other cards.4243 |
A few statements stand out:
- Coral and Ladbrokes say their internal review takes approximately up to 24 hours, Monday to Friday, and that withdrawals to debit cards are processed Monday to Sunday.1619
- BetVictor says that, for UK banks, bank transfer withdrawals requested on Friday, Saturday or Sunday are processed on Monday, once banks are open.12 talkSPORT BET’s withdrawal methods page gives the same Friday-to-Sunday rule.35
- Matchbook processes bank wire transfers within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, not including public holidays.25
- Sky Bet’s terms say withdrawals usually leave it within 2 hours on the same working day they are requested.30
- LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet ask customers to allow extra time over bank holidays because banks only process payments on working days.2340
- 10bet says delays can occur because of weekends or public holidays.1
Where the table shows that an operator publishes nothing on this, treat its weekend position as unknown. It does not mean weekends make no difference.
How to check when your withdrawal should arrive
- Note the facts. From your payment history, note the request date and time, amount, method and any reference.
- Check the status. A request under review is with the bookmaker; one shown as processed or sent is with the bank or provider.
- Find the published timescale for your method. Note its unit (hours, working days or banking days) and whether it covers the review, the delivery or both.
- Count forward with the working-day calculator and your nation’s calendar, adding review and delivery times if they are given separately.
- Check your bank or e-wallet app, including pending payments.
- Contact the bookmaker once the stated period has passed, using the official routes below.
Exceptions: fast card payouts, bank transfers and cut-off times
Fast card payouts that run at weekends
Some operators send eligible debit card withdrawals through fast payout services that run every day. William Hill says its Visa Direct payouts are processed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that if your bank supports the service you should receive the funds within four hours, even on weekends or public holidays.42 It sends withdrawals over £10,000 through its older route, which it says takes up to three days.42 Coral and Ladbrokes say their Visa Fast Funds payouts are processed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and Coral adds that you will also receive the funds over the weekend.1721
Both sides must support it. Visa says each Visa Direct programme runs through a payment gateway, processor or acquirer and must be approved by Visa.49 Mastercard says posting times for its Send transfers depend on the receiving bank.50
Bank transfers and cut-off times
Faster Payments can be sent 24 hours a day, seven days a week, subject to each bank’s service.51 Pay.UK says the money is usually available almost immediately but can take up to two hours, and that some payments take longer, especially outside normal working hours.5152 A network that runs at weekends does not mean a bookmaker releases payments at weekends, so check its own processing days.
Only a few of the operators we cover publish a daily cut-off. Paddy Power’s payment FAQ says UK GBP bank transfer withdrawals made before 10.30am reach your bank the same day, otherwise the next day, although its bank transfer page says standard transfers take between 1 and 5 days.2853 Spreadex gives same-day CHAPS deadlines of 10:00 for amounts over £50,000 and 13:00 for smaller amounts.34
E-wallets and pay-by-bank payouts
If a bookmaker pays you into an e-wallet, moving the money on to your bank is a separate step with its own calendar. PayPal says it aims to send a withdrawal instruction to its bank by the end of the next business day, meaning a day when UK banks are open to the public.54 It says a standard transfer is usually completed within 3–5 working days, while an Instant transfer typically takes up to 30 minutes.55 Trustly says a payout that is normally instant can take longer if the receiving bank processes it as a standard transfer, which is the bank’s decision.56
When to contact the bookmaker or your bank
Wait until the operator’s stated period has passed, counted in its own unit. Betfair and Paddy Power ask you to allow 5 working days for all withdrawals before getting in touch, and say they cannot give a card trace number (ARN) until 5 working days have passed.1027 William Hill says you can request an ARN once at least one full day, weekends included, has passed for a Visa Direct withdrawal, or 5 working days for other cards.43
Contact the bookmaker while the withdrawal is still pending, because only it can explain its own checks. Contact your bank or e-wallet once the bookmaker confirms the payment has been sent and gives you a reference. Use the help centre, chat or email on the operator’s own website, never share your password or full card number, and keep the details in the withdrawal enquiry checklist.
If the delay turns into a complaint
If the bookmaker cannot explain a delay, use its complaints procedure. The Gambling Commission says the business has 8 weeks to resolve your complaint, and that after 8 weeks you can take it to a free, independent alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider.5758 The Commission itself does not resolve individual complaints about withdrawals or help customers get their money back.59 Our guide on how to complain about a delayed payout sets out each stage.
If you live in Northern Ireland, note that the Commission does not regulate remote gambling provided there, and it advises checking the operator’s website for which licence and complaints procedure apply.6061
What BookiePayout cannot do
BookiePayout is an independent publication. We cannot see your account, contact a bookmaker or bank for you, speed up a payment or recover money. The dates and statements here come from GOV.UK, Pay.UK, legislation, payment providers and operators’ own pages, checked on 19 October 2026, and any of them can change.
