Help with bookmaker withdrawals

Plain explanations and safe next steps when a withdrawal is late, declined or held for checks, based on Gambling Commission guidance and what bookmakers themselves publish. We cannot see your account or recover money, but we can show you where to go.

How a withdrawal moves

Most delays happen at one of these stages. Knowing which one you are at tells you who to ask.

  1. You request a withdrawalThe bookmaker records the request and the amount leaves your betting balance.
  2. Operator processingThe bookmaker reviews and releases the payment. Checks such as verification happen here.
  3. Payment transferYour bank, card scheme or wallet provider moves the money. Some routes are near-instant, others take working days.
  4. Money arrivesFunds reach the card, bank account or wallet the bookmaker paid. Your bank may show it as pending first.

Who can help

The bookmaker is the only party that can see why a withdrawal is held. If you are not satisfied with its answer, its complaints procedure comes next; after eight weeks, or once you have its final response, you can usually take the dispute to the free alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider the bookmaker names.1 The Gambling Commission does not resolve individual disputes or recover money for customers.2
