Betting withdrawal fees and limits: who can charge you, and what limits apply

Short answer

Bookmakers licensed in Great Britain set their own minimum and maximum amounts for each withdrawal, and these vary by payment method. Many say they do not charge for standard withdrawals, but some terms allow processing fees in specific cases, and banks, e-wallets and voucher providers can charge their own fees. The Gambling Commission says you can withdraw your money at any time without unreasonable delay and do not have to take it in instalments.

Four things people mean by withdrawal limits and fees

“Limits and fees” covers four separate things, set by different people.

The four parts of withdrawal limits and fees
Term What it means Who sets it
Minimum and maximum per withdrawal The smallest and largest amount you can take out in one request with a given method The bookmaker, and sometimes your bank or payment provider
Your right to your balance Whether and when you can take out the money in your account Gambling Commission rules and guidance
Operator fee A charge the bookmaker deducts from a withdrawal or from your balance The bookmaker’s terms
Provider fee A charge for moving money into or out of a card, e-wallet, voucher account or bank Your bank or payment provider

A bookmaker’s “free withdrawals” statement covers only its own charges. Trustly, for example, says the minimum or maximum for a payment may be set by your bank, the merchant or Trustly’s service, and that your bank or the merchant may charge its own fees.6162

Your right to withdraw your balance

The Gambling Commission says you can withdraw your money at any time without unreasonable delay or restriction, that you do not have to withdraw it in instalments, and that a business cannot confiscate it because you did not log in or prove your identity within a set time.63 When you open an account, the business must tell you about account fees.64 For digital payment services such as Apple Pay, the Commission says the company should tell you about any minimum deposit limits or fees.65

BookiePayout has not found a Commission rule that caps withdrawal fees or sets withdrawal limits. In 2018 the Competition and Markets Authority raised concerns about daily, weekly or monthly withdrawal limits that appeared unreasonably low, and two firms undertook not to impose any maximum on withdrawals. Those undertakings applied to those firms only.66

Minimum and maximum withdrawal amounts

Limits are set per operator and per payment method. Published examples include:

  • bet365 lists £5.00 to £20,000.00 per withdrawal for debit cards and £10.00 to £5,500.00 for PayPal.67
  • William Hill lists a £5 minimum and a £33,000 maximum for Mastercard and Visa Debit withdrawals, and £25 to £100,000 for bank transfers.6869 Cash collected in its shops through William Hill PLUS is limited to £750 a day and £2,500 a week.68
  • Matchbook sets a £500 minimum for bank transfer withdrawals and says they may be subject to fees.36

Some limits appear only in the cashier: Unibet refers customers to its Cashier page for Apple Pay and Google Pay withdrawal limits.7071 Where an operator publishes no figure, check what its cashier shows for your method when you withdraw.

BookmakerWhat the operator saysChecked
10bet10bet says it does not charge fees on deposits or withdrawals, and its terms say there is no charge for withdrawals to online payment services or UK debit cards. A balance below the minimum withdrawal can be withdrawn in full by contacting Customer Service. Accounts with no login for 12 months become dormant and, for GB customers, a £5 monthly administration fee is taken from a positive balance after a 30-day notice period.12
bet365The terms say bet365 does not charge for debit card deposits, though some card issuers may treat betting as a cash payment and charge a fee. No withdrawal fee is stated on the pages captured. Dormant accounts with a balance are charged an administration fee of £2 every 28 days, starting at least 35 days after bet365 first tries to notify the customer.3
BetdaqThe withdrawal tables list all methods as free, and the Closure FAQ says Betdaq charges no withdrawal fees. The Terms say no surcharge applies to standard card, e-wallet or non-urgent bank transfer payments, but Betdaq may charge if payment activity is not matched by enough play. Same-day bank transfers and cheque lodgements may carry a service charge. A processing fee may apply to partial withdrawals of cash committed to an active bonus. An inactive-account fee may apply after 12 months without a login and is refundable on request within 12 months.45
BetfairBetfair's deposit help says it will not charge fees. Pay by Bank has no fees. Fees do not generally apply to bank transfers, but going over a standard transfer's daily limit can lead to rejection and a fee. Betfair does not charge dormant account fees. No explicit statement was found on fees for card or e-wallet withdrawals.6789
BetfredBetfred states it never charges for withdrawals and that deposits are free. Currency conversion, where needed, is carried out by the payment provider, which may charge.101112
BetMGM UKBetMGM says it does not charge fees for deposits or withdrawals, though a bank or payment provider may. Its terms allow a reasonable processing fee on withdrawals under £10, which must be requested through Customer Support. Dormant accounts (no login for 365 days) are charged a £5 monthly administration fee from the balance.131415
BetUKThe withdrawal help article says BetUK does not charge withdrawal fees, though banks or payment providers may. Deposits are also free. The terms, however, allow 'a reasonable fee for processing withdrawals' on withdrawals under £10 requested through Customer Support. Dormant accounts (no activity for 365 days) with a balance over £1 are charged £5 a month.16171819
BetVictorThe GB terms say BetVictor does not charge for deposits or withdrawals, and UK BACS bank transfer withdrawals are free. However, the terms also reserve the right to pass on a reasonable processing fee for withdrawals (stated alongside the rule that balances between £1 and £5 can be withdrawn only via Customer Services and balances under £1 cannot be processed), say a charge may apply if a withdrawal has to be paid to a different payment method, and allow reimbursement of merchant charges where deposits are withdrawn without being played. Banks or payment providers may charge their own fees. Dormant UK accounts with a balance may be charged a £5 monthly administration fee.202122
BetwayBetway's terms do not describe normal withdrawals as free. They say Betway incurs fees on payments, which is why there is a £5 minimum withdrawal, and that a balance below the minimum can still be withdrawn less a £1 processing fee. The customer's payment provider may also charge. Accounts with no login for 12 months become inactive and are charged £5 a month while in credit.23
BoyleSportsBoyleSports says it does not charge for deposits and that the customer's payment provider may charge for deposits and withdrawals. The help centre does not say explicitly that BoyleSports withdrawals are free. The T&Cs reserve the right to charge reasonable costs if a deposit is not played through before a withdrawal.2425
CoralCoral says it does not charge withdrawal fees, and its T&Cs say it does not charge for withdrawals to debit cards or bank accounts. It charges no deposit fees, although third-party payment processors may charge their own. Bank transfers to international accounts attract bank charges paid by the customer. If a customer makes repeated deposits and withdrawals without matching betting activity, Coral may deduct the bank charges it incurred before closing the account. If an account has had no cash bets for 13 months and Coral cannot return the balance, a £3.00 monthly inactive-account fee applies after at least 30 days' email notice. The help centre separately describes accounts as dormant after 6 months without fees.262728
KwiffKwiff does not publish a 'free withdrawals' statement. Its GB terms allow it to deduct reasonable bank charges or administrative costs for deposits and withdrawals, note that payments may incur a charge from the payment provider, allow administrative charges for withdrawals made in abnormal circumstances (including payment to a different method), and allow recovery of merchant charges where deposits are made without intent to play. A £5 monthly dormant-account fee applies after 13 months' inactivity; for GB accounts Kwiff first tries to return the balance to the last payment method. The minimum withdrawal is £10.29
LadbrokesLadbrokes states it does not charge withdrawal fees, and its UK terms say it does not charge for withdrawals to debit cards or by bank transfer to bank accounts, nor fees for processing deposits (third-party processors may charge their own). Bank transfers to international accounts carry bank charges paid by the customer. If the balance of an inactive account (13 months without cash bets) cannot be returned, a £3.00 monthly administration fee is charged after notice until the account is reactivated or the balance reaches zero; the fee can be reclaimed by contacting Customer Services.303132
LiveScore BetThe T&Cs say the operator ordinarily does not charge for deposits or withdrawals, the withdrawal table lists fees as 'Free', and the deposit FAQ says no deposit fee is charged on any method, though card providers may treat a deposit as a cash advance and charge their own fee. Dormant accounts (no transaction for 395 days) have 5% of the balance or £5, whichever is greater, deducted per month after at least one month's notice; the full pre-dormancy balance is refunded if the customer provides updated bank details.3334
MatchbookNo standard deposit or withdrawal fee is published. Matchbook may charge a processing fee, notified in advance, if deposit or withdrawal activity is not matched by enough betting. Bank wire withdrawals may be subject to fees. Accounts with no login for 12 months or more are charged a monthly inactive account fee; the amount is stated in an email sent at least 30 days before the first charge. After 5 years of such fees, any remaining balance is removed and the account closed.3536
MidniteThe T&Cs say Midnite does not charge for debit card deposits but that some card issuers may treat betting transactions as cash and charge a cash advance fee. No statement on withdrawal fees was found.37
Paddy PowerGeneral Terms say Paddy Power does not charge for deposits or withdrawals, but banks or payment providers may. Debit card and Pay by Bank transactions carry no Paddy Power fee. Standard bank transfers are fee-free below the daily limit, and Paddy Power does not charge dormant account fees.38394041
QuinnBetQuinnBet says it does not charge for deposits or withdrawals, except for any applicable withdrawal or management fees. It reserves the right to charge 5% of a withdrawal (minimum GBP 3) if less than 50% of the amount deposited has been bet, and may charge a processing fee of no more than its direct costs (notified to British Players in advance). Dormant UK accounts can incur a monthly GBP 3 administration fee.42
Sky BetThe terms say Sky Bet does not charge for withdrawals to online payment services, UK debit cards or international Visa cards from non-restricted countries. The Pay by Bank and Revolut Pay pages say no fees apply. Sky Bet does not charge dormant account fees.434445
SmarketsSmarkets says it charges no deposit fees and lists withdrawals as free for every method, though banks or e-wallets may charge their own fees. Under the terms, UK accounts with no login for 12 months or more are charged a monthly inactivity fee of €5 or 5% of the remaining balance, whichever is higher, after 30 days' notice; Smarkets first tries to repay the balance to the last payment method used. Fees may be set off if payment methods are abused, and processing fees may be deducted when Smarkets permanently closes an account.46474849
SpreadexSpreadex does not charge for holding an account. Same-day CHAPS withdrawals cost £25, and international or non-sterling bank transfers carry additional charges. The sports payment page states no other deposit or withdrawal fee. The financial trading payment page (a separate, FCA-side page) says Spreadex reserves the right to charge £1 on debit card deposits under £50; this sentence does not appear on the sports page.505152
talkSPORT BETThe GB terms say talkSPORT BET does not charge for deposits or withdrawals, and UK BACS withdrawals are free. The same terms reserve a reasonable processing fee for withdrawals (in the minimum-withdrawal clause: the minimum is £5, balances from £1 to under £5 need Customer Services, under £1 cannot be processed) and say a charge may apply if a different payment method has to be used. International wires may incur bank charges. Dormant UK accounts with a balance may be charged £5 per month.535455
UnibetUnibet says it never charges for deposits and does not charge for withdrawals to online payment services or UK debit cards, though banks may charge. Accounts unused for 12 consecutive months become Inactive and, after notice and an attempt to return the balance, may be charged a monthly Inactive Account Fee of £5 until the balance reaches zero.56
Virgin BetThe T&Cs say the operator ordinarily does not charge for deposits or withdrawals, the withdrawal table lists fees as 'Free', and the deposit FAQ says no deposit fee is charged on any method, though card providers may treat a deposit as a cash advance and charge their own fee. Dormant accounts (no transaction for 395 days) have 5% of the balance or £5, whichever is greater, deducted per month after at least one month's notice; the full pre-dormancy balance is refunded if the customer provides updated bank details.5758
William HillWilliam Hill states it does not charge fees for any deposit method, and each method section says William Hill does not charge for that method, while banks or payment providers may charge their own fees. Accounts unused for 13 consecutive months with a positive balance are charged an inactivity fee of £3 a month (Sterling), deducted on the 28th of each month, after William Hill tries to notify the customer and to return the balance to the last payment method.5960

Several operators state plainly that they do not charge for withdrawals. Betfred says it will never charge you to withdraw money from your account.10 Coral and Ladbrokes say they do not charge any withdrawal fees.2630 Sky Bet’s terms say it does not charge for withdrawals to online payment services, UK debit cards or international Visa cards issued in non-restricted countries.43 Smarkets lists withdrawals as free for each method, including Visa debit and instant bank transfer.47

Particular routes can still carry a charge:

  • Coral and Ladbrokes say bank transfers to international accounts attract bank charges, which you pay.2731
  • Paddy Power says standard bank transfers have no fees provided you stay below the daily limit, and Betfair says going above that limit could mean the transfer is rejected and a fee applied.841
  • Spreadex says a same-day CHAPS withdrawal is subject to a £25 charge.51

Fees charged by your bank or payment provider

What an e-wallet, voucher company or card issuer charges is separate from the bookmaker’s own fees. Coral’s terms, for example, say third-party payment processors may impose their own processing fees.27 Published UK fee pages show the range:

  • PayPal lists no fee for withdrawing a personal balance to a bank account or card when no currency conversion is involved. It charges UK users £0.50 if a withdrawal fails because the bank details given were wrong.72
  • Skrill’s UK fee schedule charges no transaction fee for receiving money without a currency conversion. It lists 1.75% (minimum EUR 3.50) to withdraw to a bank account, 1.99% (minimum EUR 0.99) to withdraw to a card, and a 3.99% foreign exchange fee where currency is converted.73
  • Neteller’s fees page, which is not UK-specific, says receiving money is free. It lists 1.75% (minimum USD 3.50) for bank withdrawals from 12 January 2026 and 0–7.5% for Visa or Mastercard withdrawals.74
  • paysafecard says payouts into a PaysafeCard account are free for you, though any merchant fee is deducted. Moving money from the account to a bank costs £6 per redemption.7576 A Standard PaysafeCard account also has a monthly payout limit of £250.77

Money left unused in a wallet can also be charged: Skrill deducts EUR 5.00 a month if you neither log in nor make a transaction for 6 months, and paysafecard charges £5 a month after 12 months without a payment.7376

Check limits and fees before you withdraw

Step by step
  1. Check the method. In the cashier or payment-methods page, note the minimum, maximum and any fee for the method you plan to use.
  2. Read the terms, not only the help page. Search for “fee”, “charge”, “dormant” and “inactive” to find conditional charges.
  3. Check the next step. If the money goes to an e-wallet or voucher account, read that provider’s fees for moving it to your bank.
  4. Keep dated copies of any operator pages that give different figures.
  5. Ask before a large withdrawal. If the amount is near a published limit, ask support in writing which figure applies to you.
  6. Compare what arrives with what you requested, and note any deduction and its description.

Exceptions: conditional fees, small balances and pages that disagree

Fees that depend on how the account was used

Some terms allow a charge when money is withdrawn after little or no betting. QuinnBet reserves the right to charge 5% of the withdrawal, minimum £3.00, if you have carried out no financial activity or activity equal to less than 50% of the amount deposited.42 BoyleSports may charge reasonable costs if a deposit is not played through in full before a withdrawal.25 Matchbook and Betdaq may charge where deposit and withdrawal activity does not correspond to a sufficient volume of play; Matchbook says it will tell you the amount before deducting it.535

Small balances

Some operators handle small balances only through support. BetVictor says a balance from £1 up to £5 can be withdrawn by contacting Customer Services, and its terms say a balance under £1 will not be processed.2021 QuinnBet’s terms say British players have no minimum withdrawal, but withdrawals under £10 require contacting Customer Service.42

When an operator’s own pages disagree

Our research found operators whose own pages give different figures:

  • Sky Bet’s terms give a standard minimum withdrawal of £10, while its help pages give £5.00 for card withdrawals and Pay by Bank.434478
  • Betdaq’s older limits article gives a £10 minimum and a £15,000 daily card maximum; its closure FAQ says the minimum is £1 and there is no maximum.479
  • William Hill’s bank transfer article gives a £100,000 maximum, while its methods page gives £99,000 for bank transfer payouts of paysafecard funds.6869
  • BetUK’s help centre says it does not impose withdrawal fees, but its terms allow a reasonable fee for withdrawals under £10 requested through Customer Support.1618
  • BetVictor’s GB terms say it does not charge for deposits or withdrawals, but also that it may pass on a reasonable processing fee for withdrawals and may charge if a withdrawal has to go to a different payment method. talkSPORT BET’s terms say the same.2053

Where pages disagree, ask the operator in writing which applies to you and keep its answer.

Dormant account fees

The Commission allows fees on accounts unused for at least 12 months if they are reasonable, cost-reflective and set out in the terms; the business must try to return your money first and give 30 days’ notice, and fees can bring the balance to zero.80 bet365’s terms set £2 every 28 days, and William Hill charges £3 a month after 13 months unused.360 Sky Bet, Paddy Power and Betfair say they do not charge dormant account fees.93843

When to contact the bookmaker or your provider

Contact the bookmaker if you received less than you asked for, a fee appears that you were not told about, or a limit stops you taking out your balance, and ask which term it relied on. Contact your bank or e-wallet if the deduction happened after the money left the bookmaker, such as a transfer or currency conversion fee. Use the official help centre or chat, never share your password or full card number, and keep the details in the withdrawal enquiry checklist.

If you want to dispute a fee or limit

Use the operator’s complaints procedure. The Commission lists how much you have been paid and the way your payments were managed among the matters you can complain to a business about.81 The business has 8 weeks to resolve your complaint, after which you can take it to a free, independent ADR provider.8283 The Commission does not resolve individual disputes or help customers get money back.84 Our guide on how to complain about a delayed payout explains each stage.
