For Smarkets customers in Great Britain, the Smarkets Payment Methods Hub lists a 6-hour processing time for withdrawals by Open Bank Transfer, debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Trustly and PayPal; that is operator processing.4 It says Open Bank Transfer withdrawals are then received in your bank account instantly, while the notes for the card, wallet and Trustly routes say withdrawals are received within 1–6 business days, a figure that does not say when the count starts.4 The terms say Smarkets will attempt to process withdrawal requests within five working days, and only once verification requirements are met,3 so none of these is a guaranteed receipt time.
Operator-stated, checked 19 October 2026. Sources are numbered below.
Smarkets withdrawal times by method
Smarkets publishes different times for different payment methods, and sometimes for different stages. We show each stage in its own column: operator processing is Smarkets's own review and release; payment transfer is the bank or provider's delivery time; a single stated time is used where Smarkets gives one figure, labelled "request to receipt" or "stage not stated" exactly as the source allows.
- RequestYou ask Smarkets to withdraw. UK customers generally cannot cancel it once made.
- Smarkets processingUp to 6 hoursReview, checks and release by the bookmaker.
- Payment transferInstantBank, card scheme or wallet delivers the money.
- Money arrivesYour bank or wallet may show it as pending before it clears.

Conditions and notes. Our summary of what each operator says alongside the figures above; follow the numbered sources for the exact wording.
Debit Card (Visa/MC)
- Only UK debit cards accepted for UK customers; credit cards prohibited (hub). The Visa Credit Card article says that method is only for MGA-jurisdiction users.
- For certain Mastercard and Maestro cards, withdrawals are limited to the net amount deposited from the card; profit must be withdrawn by another method.
- Some banks will not accept payouts to Mastercard; customer service then arranges an alternative method.
- A 'Pay to Bank' (TrueLayer) option may appear alongside card withdrawals and pays the linked bank account instead (recorded separately).
- Older articles (2022) give a card deposit maximum of £3,500 and describe card withdrawals as 'processed within 1-6 business days'; the 2026 hub gives £15,000 / £10,000 limits and 6 Hours processing.
PayPal
- GBP only; the PayPal article says not available in the Isle of Man, Guernsey or Jersey.
- Minimum deposit conflicts: £25 (2026 hub) vs £20 (PayPal article, 2024) vs £20 min / £200 daily max ('Minimum and maximum deposits', 2025).
- Withdrawal time conflicts: the PayPal article says 'processed within 1-2 business days'; the hub gives 6 Hours processing and a 'received in your bank account within 1-6 business days' note.
Apple Pay
- Deposits on an iOS device. Apple Pay uses a device account number whose last four digits differ from the physical card, which matters for closed-loop matching.
- No Apple Pay specific fee statement; the general deposit-fee article says no deposit fees are charged.
Google Pay
- Google Pay uses a virtual account number whose last four digits differ from the physical card.
- No Google Pay specific fee statement; the general deposit-fee article says no deposit fees are charged.
Skrill
- Not listed in the 2026 Payment Methods Hub for any jurisdiction; current availability for UK customers is not confirmed. Figures come from the 2022 Skrill article.
- Daily deposit maximum conflicts: £/€3k (Skrill article) vs £/€5k ('Minimum and maximum deposits', 2025).
- Withdrawals only possible after a Skrill deposit; one Skrill account per customer.
- Comparison article: a fourth or later e-wallet withdrawal within 7 days takes 24hr to process.
Neteller
- Not listed in the 2026 Payment Methods Hub for any jurisdiction; current availability for UK customers is not confirmed. Figures come from the 2022 Neteller article.
- Daily deposit maximum conflicts: £/€3k (Neteller article) vs £/€5k ('Minimum and maximum deposits', 2025).
- Withdrawals only possible after a Neteller deposit; one Neteller account per customer.
Trustly
- The Trustly article (2023) gives a £/€10,000 daily deposit maximum and a withdrawal time of '1-2 business days'; the 2026 hub gives £100,000 and 6 Hours processing plus 1-6 business days.
- Trustly article: not available in the Isle of Man, Guernsey or Jersey.
Bank Transfer
- Only processed when all other withdrawal options have been exhausted; requires a bank statement showing name and account details, a verified Smarkets account (photo ID and address) and matching currency.
- Deposit status conflicts: the 2026 hub marks bank transfer 'N/A (Withdrawal Only)', but T&Cs 5.1 and older deposit articles list bank transfer deposits (3-5 business days).
- Minimum withdrawal conflicts: £10 (hub) vs £20 (Bank Transfer article).
- The Bank Transfer article words the 5-10 business days as 'processed within'; the hub says 'received ... within'.
Open Bank Transfer (also called Instant Bank Transfer; TrueLayer)
- Older help articles still say open banking / Instant Bank Transfer withdrawals 'should be received within 12 hours' (2024) and list '12 hours' (2021); the 2026 hub says 6 Hours processing then instant receipt.
- Instant Bank Transfer article: after the first deposit from a new bank account the method cannot be used for withdrawals for up to 24 hours (all banks except Revolut). The paragraph follows the Ireland section, so it is unclear whether it also applies to UK users.
- The amount that can be deposited varies by bank; some banks impose lower limits (Instant Bank Transfer article).
- T&Cs 5.21 name TrueLayer as the open banking provider.
Pay to Bank - card withdrawals
- A withdrawal route for card depositors, shown alongside the card withdrawal option only when available.
- Uses TrueLayer; the bank account must be the same account used for the original card deposit and the name must match the Smarkets account.
- If verification fails, the customer can still withdraw to the card as normal.
- The article says withdrawals are 'processed instantly' once the account is verified; the hub still lists 6 Hours processing for card withdrawals.
Smarkets deposit methods and where withdrawals are paid
Operator-stated, our summary Smarkets runs a closed-loop system: funds go back to the method used to deposit. Net deposits (deposits minus withdrawals) are tracked per method, and positive net deposits on each method must be cleared before more than the deposited amount can be withdrawn to a preferred method. The withdrawal page shows the maximum allowed per method.32021

Smarkets withdrawal limits and fees
Operator-stated, our summary Smarkets says it charges no deposit fees and lists withdrawals as free for every method, though banks or e-wallets may charge their own fees. Under the terms, UK accounts with no login for 12 months or more are charged a monthly inactivity fee of €5 or 5% of the remaining balance, whichever is higher, after 30 days' notice; Smarkets first tries to repay the balance to the last payment method used. Fees may be set off if payment methods are abused, and processing fees may be deducted when Smarkets permanently closes an account.3152223
Published minimum withdrawal: £10 for the methods that state one (see the table above).
For how limits and fees work generally, see withdrawal limits and fees explained.
Verification before a Smarkets withdrawal
Operator-stated, our summary Accounts must be verified before withdrawals can be made. Most UK users are verified electronically after their first deposit; otherwise documents are requested and reviewed within 24 hours. The terms say a withdrawal request is cancelled and the funds returned to the account if identity cannot be verified within two weeks, and that identity is authenticated for withdrawals over £1,450 (smaller amounts may also be checked). Source of funds or wealth checks can lead to restrictions if not completed.32425
Gambling Commission rules limit when a business can ask for information only at the point of withdrawal. Read verification and your withdrawal rights.
Pending, cancelled or declined Smarkets withdrawals
Operator-stated, our summary UK customers cannot cancel a pending withdrawal; Smarkets attributes this to UK Gambling Commission guidance.2126
If a withdrawal is taking longer than the stated time, work through what to check when a withdrawal is pending.
Smarkets withdrawals at weekends and on bank holidays
Operator-stated, our summary The UK hub gives a 6 hour processing time for most methods, while the terms say Smarkets will attempt to process withdrawal requests within five working days. Older articles say a fourth or later e-wallet withdrawal in a 7-day period takes 24 hours to process. No statement on weekend or bank holiday processing or daily cut-off times was found.3423
Count working days for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland with the working-day calculator.
Lost, replaced or expired cards
Operator-stated, our summary If a card has expired and the replacement is from the same bank, the customer deposits with the new card and then removes the old one. If a card or account has been lost, stolen, expired or closed, support may ask for documents (bank statements for old and new methods, a photo of the card showing only the first 6 and last 4 digits) before allowing withdrawal to a new method. If the method the balance must go to has been removed, support can help, including by bank transfer.202728
Closed or self-excluded accounts
Operator-stated, our summary After self-exclusion any remaining balance is returned automatically within 48 hours, or sooner on request to support. Customers can close their account by withdrawing all funds and contacting support. Funds cannot be withdrawn while an account is suspended for investigation. If Smarkets closes an account, the balance is paid back, except where it determines prohibited activity took place.32930

What we found in Smarkets's own pages
- An exchange, with a separate sportsbook. The Smarkets terms describe an exchange on which customers place and match orders,3 and the company, Smarkets (Malta) Limited, trades as both Smarkets and SBK.31 This guide follows the Smarkets help centre. SBK has its own help centre with its own Payment Methods Hub,32 which we have not summarised here; an existing Smarkets login can be used for the SBK app after contacting support.33
- Older articles give different times. Several pre-2026 articles are still live. The 2024 Instant Bank Transfer article says withdrawals should be received within 12 hours,17 and the 2021 withdrawal process time table lists 12 hours for open banking,18 against the hub’s 6 hours of processing followed by instant receipt.4 The PayPal and Trustly articles say withdrawals take 1–2 business days,913 and the Visa Debit article calls 1–6 business days a processing time,5 whereas the hub gives 6 hours of processing and treats 1–6 business days as the time to be received. The method table uses the hub.
- Pay to Bank for card depositors. Where it is offered, a Pay to Bank option appears next to the card withdrawal and pays, through TrueLayer, the bank account used for the original card deposit, provided the name matches your Smarkets account.19 The article says the withdrawal is processed instantly once the account is verified and that funds arrive instantly rather than in up to 1–6 working days, and that you can still withdraw to the card if the check fails.19 The hub still lists 6 hours of processing for card withdrawals.4
- Verification can cancel a request. Smarkets must authenticate the identity of anyone withdrawing more than £1,450, and if it cannot verify your identity within two weeks of a withdrawal request, the request is cancelled and the money returned to your account.3
- Limits differ between pages. For PayPal the hub gives a £25 minimum deposit, the PayPal article £20, and the minimum and maximum deposits article £20 with a £200 daily maximum against the hub’s £250.4910 For Trustly the hub allows deposits up to £100,000 and the Trustly article £10,000 a day.413 For certain Mastercard and Maestro cards, withdrawals are capped at the net amount deposited from the card, and profit has to go to a different method.6
- Bank transfer is a last resort. Smarkets processes a bank transfer withdrawal only when all other withdrawal options have been exhausted, and asks for proof that the bank account is yours.14 The hub lists bank transfer as withdrawal-only, received within 5–10 business days with a £10 minimum,4 while the Bank Transfer article gives a £20 minimum14 and the terms still list bank transfer as a way to deposit.3
- Skrill and Neteller not confirmed. Both have their own 2022 help articles,1112 but neither appears in the 2026 hub for any jurisdiction,4 so we have not confirmed that UK customers can still use them. None of the pages says how withdrawals are handled at weekends or on bank holidays.
