BresBet review: licence surrendered and what customers can do

Short answer

BresBet is no longer licensed to offer gambling in Great Britain: the Gambling Commission suspended BresBet Ltd’s operating licence on 28 August 2026, and the company surrendered it on 4 September 2026.3 On 30 September 2026 the Commission said some BresBet customers were having difficulty withdrawing funds, and its latest update, of 16 October 2026, says it will update its page when it has further information about BresBet Ltd.3 Anyone with a balance should keep a full record and use the complaints route below; the Commission does not resolve individual complaints or help consumers get money back.8

How this page is funded: BookiePayout does not currently earn commission from any bookmaker on this page. If that changes, paid links will be labelled and will not change what we say, the order or which bookmakers are included. Affiliate disclosure.

How we checked this bookmaker

Bresbet no longer holds an active Gambling Commission licence and its website could not be reached when we checked, so this page relies on the Commission's public register and statements (4 saved sources, last checked 19 October 2026). We did not open an account or contact the business, and there is no score or payments checklist.

Important

BresBet Ltd has not held a Gambling Commission licence since 4 September 2026, and the register lists bresbet.com and bresbet.co.uk as inactive domains.12 This page records what happened and the routes open to existing customers. It does not assess BresBet as a place to bet and does not recommend any bookmaker.

What happened

  • 28 August 2026: licence suspended. The Commission suspended BresBet Ltd’s operating licence after its enquiries revealed suspected social responsibility and anti-money laundering failings, and began a review of the licence under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005.3 It said the suspension did not prevent BresBet from letting customers access their accounts and withdraw funds.3
  • 4 September 2026: licence surrendered. BresBet Ltd surrendered its operating licence, and the Commission reminded it that it expected plans and all necessary steps to make sure consumers were not unnecessarily disadvantaged.3 The register shows every remote activity, covering bingo, casino and real-event and virtual-event betting, as surrendered on that date.1
  • 30 September 2026: withdrawal problems. The Commission said it was aware that some BresBet customers were having difficulty withdrawing funds.3
  • 16 October 2026: latest update. The Commission reported that administrators had been appointed for Bet St George Ltd, the other operator named in the same notice, and said it would update the page once it had further information about BresBet Ltd.3

The regulatory actions tab of BresBet Ltd’s register entry still showed no recorded actions on 19 October 2026; the suspension appears in the Commission’s enforcement news instead.45

BresBet was run by BresBet Ltd, Gambling Commission account 65252, whose register entry gives a head office in Sheffield.1 Its remote licence, 065252-R-340096-002, ran from 13 February 2025 until the surrender on 4 September 2026.1 The status shown above is the register’s position on the date checked, not the date of the surrender. Bet St George Ltd, which operates betstgeorge.com and was suspended in the same notice, holds a different operating licence.3

If you have money in a BresBet account

The Commission’s notice is the only official statement on file. When it suspended the licence, it said both businesses could be contacted through their websites.3 The register now lists both BresBet domains as inactive, and no email address, phone number or administrator for BresBet Ltd appears in the Commission’s updates.23 Check the Commission’s BresBet notice for any later instructions.

The general complaints route still applies. Complain to the business first, giving dates, times and amounts, and keep a copy of everything you send.6 A business has 8 weeks to resolve a complaint; if it is still unresolved, you can take it to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider, a free and independent service.67 The business should tell you which ADR provider to use and how to contact it.7 No ADR provider for BresBet could be confirmed, because its website could not be read.

The Commission is a regulator, not an ombudsman, and cannot help consumers get their money back.8 It does record complaints against a gambling business and uses information that points to a rule breach to inform regulatory action.8 The Competition and Markets Authority’s advice also mentions Citizens Advice and independent legal advice.9

Money held by a gambling business is not protected by the Commission or government in the way bank deposits are.10 Each business must state in its terms whether customer funds are not protected or have medium or high protection; BresBet’s rating could not be checked.11 Money staked in open bets does not count as customer funds.11

Keep your own record of the balance, open bets, recent deposits and withdrawals, and every message sent or received, with dates. The withdrawal enquiry checklist helps build that record, and the complaints guide explains each step to ADR.

What we could not check

Every attempt to reach bresbet.com and bresbet.co.uk was blocked by a security challenge, so no BresBet terms, help, complaints or payment page could be read. Its products, payment methods, withdrawal times, ADR provider and funds protection rating are therefore not confirmed. As of the Commission’s 16 October 2026 update, no administrator or claims route for BresBet Ltd had been named.3 This page will be rechecked against the Commission’s notice.
